The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training.
The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement that regulated service providers must ensure their staff receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role.
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the standardised training that was developed for this purpose and is the government's preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff.

Which Tier of Training Do I Need?
Please use the form on the right to request a quote for training:
Tier 1
Training aimed at those who interact with those supporting autistic people or those with a learning disability
Tier 2
Training for anyone who directly works with autistic people or people with a learning disability
For more details on both tiers, please look below
TIER 1 TRAINING
The Tier 1 Training involves a 1 hour webinar that is delivered by experts with lived experience and a facilitating trainer. This can be accessed remotely from anywhere and is held on Microsoft Teams.
The maximum number of attendees per webinar is 30.

TIER 2 TRAINING
Tier 2 training is divided in to a morning session on Learning Disabilities and an afternoon session on Autism. The sessions can be delivered on different days, however learners must complete the Learning Disability session prior to completing the Autism session, and must complete both parts to be awarded their badge and certificate.
We offer Tier 2 across our venues in Somerset, however we can also deliver at alternative venues for an additional fuel charge.
