SHINE - An Alternative Provision

SHINE aims to equip 16-25 year-olds with the knowledge they need to take the next step in life. Whether you are looking to move to independent living, further education, or into the workplace for the first time, SHINE offers tailored packages to support the learning of adaptive skills focused on your aspirations.

At SHINE, Autism Somerset and You First Support Services work collaboratively deliver domiciliary and psychosocial education. This all takes place in a countryside cottage, allowing learners to connect with nature and explore passions alongside their education, such as gardening, tech workshops, and life skills.

Tailored support based around you

SHINE aims to implement bespoke packages based on growth, resilience, and self-reflection whilst offering new opportunities and strategies to help in your next steps.

To do this, we tailor our timetables around the 3 A's:

Acceptance

accepting what can be changed

Adaptation

adapting to the changes made

Ambition

ambition to commit to the change

Who is SHINE for?

We aim to provide support and education to anyone aged 16-25 who has an 'Education, Health, and Care Plan' (EHCP).

We provide specific additional support to those with a neurodiversity or those who have high levels of anxiety, people who feel they need support to meet the demands of everyday life, and young adults who have found other interventions are not suited to them.
